Car rentals and parking are available at the airport.

Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy Katowice (Katowice Airport) leży na terenie dwóch gmin, Mierzęcic, a zarazem na pograniczu dwóch powiatów, będzińskiego i tarnogórskiego. Lotnisko dysponuje jedną z najdłuższych dróg startowych dostępnych w Polsce i jest jedno z najnowocześniejszych lotnisk w państwie.

Katowice International Airport (Katowice Airport) lies within two municipalities, Mierzęcice, and on the border of two counties: Będzin and Tarnowskie Góry. The airport boasts one of the longest runways in Poland and is one of the most modern airports in the country.

The airport was built during World War II as a Luftwaffe alternate airfield. It was built on the site of the former Luftwaffe alternate airfield "Schendek," named after the village of Zendek. It was one of the largest German airfields during the war. Modern Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet jets were tested here, among other aircraft. In 1948, the airport was taken over by the Polish military, but from 1966, a civilian airport operated alongside the military airport, and from 2000, exclusively civilian. Since 2000, the airport has been fully civilian, using the international name Katowice Airport.

The airport is the fourth-busiest in Poland. In 2003, low-cost airlines began operating at the airport, which significantly increased the number of international connections served. Passenger numbers also increased – from 257,000 in 2003 to 6,386,000 in 2024. Currently, flights from Katowice Airport offer tickets to dozens of scheduled destinations, and this number is growing.
